The is the Glastonbury Thorn at St John's Church. It is a hawthorn but unlike a normal hawthorn tree it flowers at Christmas as well as Easter (like in this photo). The original one which grew on Wearyall Hill is claimed to have sprouted as a result of Joseph's Staff being plunged into the ground. This particular specimen at St John's is also famous for having a sprig cut and sent to the Queen every year at Christmas time.
